Internship Program Information:

The following are some of our most frequently offered internship positions. All of them provide opportunities to gain hands-on experience to lay the foundation for your professional career and contribute at close quarters to exciting projects in our ever-evolving industry. 

Materials & Processes

We are looking for motivated students currently pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Material Science, or a closely related discipline.

As an Intern you will gain hands on experience in material characterization, testing, and documentation while helping validate new manufacturing approaches used in our space products.

  • Write the technical documentation required to qualify materials & processes used in space applications
  • Define how to characterize different material properties from metals, composites, paints, and other materials used in our products
  • Supervise the manufacturing and testing of specimens
  • Analyze test data, and provide your interpretation based on the theoretical data you learnt during your studies
  • Develop new manufacturing concepts and perform their validation
Payloads

Test Engineering

We are looking for motivated students currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical-, electrical-, or aerospace engineering, or a closely related discipline.

As an intern, you can expect to be actively involved in real engineering work within the space sector: supporting research, development and testing of mechanisms used on satellites. 

  • You will help set up and execute tests, analyze results, and document your work in a highly demanding engineering environment where reliability is critical.
  • Working closely with experienced engineers across disciplines, you will contribute to solving concrete technical challenges and gain hands-on insight into how space-qualified mechanisms are designed, validated, and prepared for use in orbit.
Mechatronics

Quality Management

We are looking for motivated students currently pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in engineering or industrial engineering, or a closely related discipline.

As an Intern in Quality, you will support the development and execution of quality processes while gaining hands on experience in compliance, continuous improvement, and cross functional collaboration.

  • Support process definition and optimization by analysing workflows, identifying improvement opportunities, and contributing to the development of clear and efficient processes in collaboration with different departments.
  • Maintain high quality standards in alignment with regulatory and organizational requirements, ensuring compliance and consistency through detailed documentation.
  • Support in mission-critical quality activities, including documentation reviews, and corrective actions, helping ensure product reliability and operational excellence.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, applying data-driven insights and best practices to propose improvements in overall quality performance and reduced risks.
  • Collaborate across departments and international teams to ensure alignment on quality objectives, effective communication, and timely resolution of quality-related issues.
  • Contribute to risk management and root cause analysis, supporting preventive measures and applying structured problem-solving techniques to minimize potential quality failures.
Early Career Page - Quality Management

System Engineering

We are looking for motivated students currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical-, electrical-, or aerospace engineering, or a closely related discipline.

You will perform technical system-level analyses and set up breadboard test cycles to support the development of cutting-edge space technology and help the team with on-time delivery of satellite mechanisms and structures to customers across the space industry.

  • Participate in technical activities such as testing, documentation review, guideline creation
  • Support in the creation of a requirement database for the different product lines
  • Breaks down the technical requirements to subsystems generating specifications for customer, supplier and subcontractors.
  • Writes technical documentations, project related deliverables and other specifications (e.g. Test Plan)
  • Carries out technical risk management and perform Root Cause Analysis
Our separation systems have an excellent flight record: To date more than 1000 in-orbit separations have been performed with a 100% success rate.

Manufacturing Engineering

We are looking for motivated students currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, material science, or a closely related discipline.

As an intern in Manufacturing Engineering, you will work at the interface of product development engineering and production, contributing to process development, industrialization, as well as optimization and documentation of manufacturing processes for complex space hardware.

  • Work in a multidisciplinary engineering and production environment on state-of-the-art aerospace materials like carbon fiber composite panels and aerospace metal alloys
  • Support the continuous improvement of the serial production of complex space hardware
  • Take part in the development of new processes and tooling, from start to finish
  • Draft new and maintain existing manufacturing procedures and engineering documentation

When do the internships start and when should I start applying?

The start date for your internship is agreed individually according to your availability and the needs of the respective business units.

We recommend checking our open vacancies on a regular basis. Recruitment is possible all year round. 

What are the application requirements?

Our internships are designed for candidates who are currently enrolled in a study program and need to complete an internship as part of their curriculum, are finishing their studies with a final internship, or have recently graduated and are looking to begin their careers through an internship. Each applicant must submit either a certificate of enrollment and/or the corresponding diploma. 

What is the standard length of the internship program?

All Internships last a minimum of 6 months. Additionally, there is the possibility of extending your contract up to 12 months in total. 

Is a permanent position possible after completing an internship?

Although a permanent role cannot be promised upfront, we are passionate about developing and supporting our early talents on their path towards long-term success at Beyond Gravity.
